Marrakech: 8-Day Sahara Tour with Camel Trekking in Erg Chegaga

This 8-day tour takes you from Marrakech deep into the Sahara and back. You will experience the scenic and cultural diversity of Morocco, from the peaks of the High Atlas Mountains to the endless dunes of the desert. Upon your arrival in Marrakech, you will be accommodated in a traditional riad or hotel. The first evening is for settling in and preparing for the upcoming journey. On the second day, the journey over the High Atlas Mountains begins. The route takes you through impressive mountain landscapes and small Berber villages. Along the way, you will make several stops at vantage points that offer time for photos and impressions. At the end of the day, you will arrive at the Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will spend the night. On the third day, you will continue south through the Draa Valley, known for its desert oases and palm tree landscapes. In the late afternoon, you will reach M'Hamid, which is considered the gateway to the Sahara. There you will spend the first night in a desert camp and get an intense impression of the desert atmosphere. On the fourth day, the multi-day desert trek begins. Together with a caravan, you'll head deep into the Sahara. Depending on the stage, the route is covered on foot and partly accompanied by camels for luggage transport or optional riding. The landscape changes constantly until only dunes and sand characterize the surroundings. You will spend the night in a mobile camp in the middle of the desert under the open sky. On the fifth day, you will continue the trek through remote regions of the Sahara. The day is characterized by tranquility, vastness, and the traditional life of the nomads. You will also spend this night in a desert camp. On the sixth day, you will meet your 4x4 vehicle, which will take you to the Erg Chegaga region, one of the largest and most impressive dune landscapes in Morocco. There, a permanent desert camp awaits you with more comfortable accommodation and another overnight stay in the desert. On the seventh day, you leave the Sahara and drive back to Zagora in a 4x4. There you can relax after the intense days in the desert and stay overnight in a hotel. On the eighth day, you will return to Marrakech, where the trip ends in the afternoon. The round trip is scheduled for the period from October 31 to November 7, 2026.
