2-Day, 1-Night Desert Tour from Ouarzazate to the Chegaga Dunes. - Day 1: Ouarzazate – Anti Atlas Mountains – Draa valley – Old Caravan Route – Zagora – M'Hamid – Chegaga Dunes; Departure at 8:00 am from your hotel in Ouarzazate, in the heart of southern Morocco. In your private 4x4 with a local driver-guide, you will head for the Chegaga Dunes, the largest and wildest in Morocco's Sahara Desert. You'll cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains, which offer mineral landscapes in flamboyant colors, before reaching the Draa Valley, the longest in the country, famous for its lush palm groves, traditional mud-brick ksour, and ancient kasbahs. Pass through Agdez, then continue along the former route of the Saharan caravans, skirting the palm grove to M'Hamid, the last village before the desert (end of the paved road). Lunch on site at a local inn. In the afternoon, head south to Erg Chegaga, along 66 km of Saharan track. This off-the-beaten-track journey lets you discover the different faces of the desert: hamada (rocky plateaus), erg (sand dunes), reg (stony plains), and secret oases. Upon arriving at the dunes, you will enjoy a dromedary ride at sunset, with breathtaking views from the sandy peaks (up to 300 m high). The evening continues with a traditional Moroccan dinner in a nomadic tent, with Saharan songs and the starry desert sky, for a magical night in a bivouac. - Day 2: Erg Chegaga – Lake Iriki – Paris-Dakar Track – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Fint Oasis – Ouarzazate; Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes: a peaceful and unforgettable moment. Breakfast at the bivouac, then departure by 4x4 through the Moroccan Sahara Desert. You will travel along the majestic Chegaga Dunes and the old, dry bed of the Wadi Draa to Lake Iriki, a vast expanse of hardened sand that was once filled with water and is now covered with salt crystals. Continue on the legendary old track of the Paris-Dakar rally, crossing the impressive hamada of southern Morocco, with its lunar landscapes, to Foum Zguid, where lunch will be served. In the afternoon, return to Ouarzazate, with possible stops at Taznakht, famous for its handcrafted Berber carpets, and at the Oasis of Fint, a peaceful place nestled between the mountains, ideal for a break in nature.
